Celebrating safety excellence with Gü

Gü Indulgent Foods Limited has partnered with RB Group to deliver a new advanced manufacturing facility to create patisserie-inspired, indulgently layered desserts.

This new plant is part of a multi-million pound investment in the Gü Bishops Stortford site.Over the last three years, RB Group, led by our Director Seán McKirdy, has been managing extensive heavy construction work on site, which continues to operate 24/7.

Project scope

The scope of our work included confined space operations, hot works, working at height, excavations, and heavy plant management such as piling rigs and cranes. This has involved extensive detailed planning and close management, including careful traffic flow management, to allow the site to continue operating during the works.

RB Group collaborated with CupixWorks to 3D scan and model the entire Gü site, including all existing equipment, utilities, and buildings. This detailed 3D model of the new packaging line was then integrated into the site model to ensure seamless operation and maintenance once installed. RB Group has also overseen the partial relocation of the existing Gü packaging line to accommodate the new high-speed line. By working closely with the packaging line manufacturer, RB Group has facilitated the off-site construction, full testing, and subsequent installation of the line, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing site production.

Exemplary safety record

We are proud to announce that, under our management, the team at Gü has achieved an exemplary safety record with zero lost time accidents (LTAs) since the start of the project. We have successfully managed 158,148 man-hours of work to date without a single LTA, reflecting our unwavering commitment to creating a safe and secure working environment for all our employees and partners.

Our success in maintaining a stellar safety record is attributed to:

  • Rigorous Safety Training: Ensuring every team member is equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely.
  • Comprehensive Risk Assessments: Identifying and mitigating potential hazards before they impact our projects.
  • Regular Safety Audits: Continuously monitoring and improving our safety practices to meet the highest standards.
  • Fostering a Safety-First Culture: Encouraging open communication and proactive reporting of any safety concerns.

This achievement is a testament to the dedication and vigilance of our entire team, and to the excellent collaboration with our client, Gü. By prioritising safety, we not only protect our most valuable asset – our people – but also enhance the quality and reliability of our services.

“As part of a significant site transformation project, Gü Indulgent Foods engaged the services of RB Group to manage construction and installation activities on site. We are very pleased that, thanks to good collaboration between the RB Group team and Gü’s internal HSE, Engineering and Production teams, the project has maintained an excellent safety record, with no LTA and a minimal amount of minor accidents”
