
RB Group powers £12 million expansion of Trewithen Dairy with comprehensive engineering and management support
RB Group provided comprehensive engineering and management support for the £12 million upgrade project of Trewithen Dairy, ensuring the successful expansion of the dairy’s operations.
The project scope encompassed the design and specification of various key facilities and systems for Trewithen Dairy’s upgrade. This included high care and low care production areas, changing facilities, a new creamery with ovens and freezers for clotted cream production, a milk bottling hall, packing facilities, cold storage, and services plant rooms. Additional areas covered were the HV and LV substations, switch rooms, and the lorry park with loading bay facilities.
RB Group was responsible for the design and specification of the new:
- production facilities, including CIP systems
- steam systems and boilers
- tankage
- effluent treatment
- laboratory facilities
- cold stores
- bottling handling and filling systems.
The team also handled the design and specification of the new electrical supply and distribution system, from overhead HV supply to field distribution. RBPC managed the installation and commissioning of the system, ensuring seamless technical coordination with Western Power and compliance with equipment specifications. The entire project was co-funded by the SWRDA, and RB Group played a significant role in ensuring compliance with all grant authority requirements and applications.
RB Group played an integral role in the transformation of Trewithen Dairy from a small, family-run farm-based operation into a modern production facility employing over 200 people.
