PROJECT SCOPE – RB PLANT’S ROLE
- Act as Principal Designer/Principal Contractor
- Support Brett with CDM for:
- Installation of new production line
- Ancillary services
to produce these new products
- Provide Construction Site Management services to oversee the Civils works required for the new raw materials system to feed the new process plant
WHAT CHALLENGES DID RB PLANT OVERCOME?
- Complete works to tight deadlines & within clients budget
- Execute works whilst normal production operations ongoing:
- Pouring new silo foundations
- Creation of new ground hopper system – ground conditions biggest challenge
- Risk of side wall collapse due to hopper location below surrounding water level
- Existing equipment locations prevented use of normal excavation processes
- Diaphragm wall construction trialled, but unfeasible
- Resulting solution was then to:
- Contiguous pile around the hopper
- Excavate the required materials to prevent risk of wall collapse during hopper pit construction.
THE OUTCOME AND END RESULT
- The outcome was a “Happy Client”
- Work completed with only minor disruption due to extreme weather conditions limiting crane lifting to install equipment
- All exterior & roof sections removed and replaced
- Health & Safety file collated & handed over to the client upon completion of the installation/commissioning processes
BENEFIT TO CLIENT
- Now has capability to produce higher value products to supply the Landscaping & Building products markets
- Achieved Return On Investment in the minimum possible period as based on the demand for the new products from their sales team
