The roles are for various industrial projects and ideal candidates will come from an industrial background, preferably with Oil & Gas/Process background.

  • Degree qualified
  • Preferably Chartered
  • Knowledge of Revit 3D software and ability to use
  • Familiar with preparing tender packages and client discussions
  • Industrial experience rather than private and commercial buildings
  • Oil and Gas experience
  • Familiar with designing civil work from geotechnical information

Our Senior Engineer and Company Director Seán McKirdy undertakes voluntary work as a STEMNET and IMechE STEM Ambassador. Seán enjoys working with and encouraging students, especially those from under-represented groups to take up STEM subjects.

Seán believes in social change by encouraging young people to see engineering and apprenticeships as a potential career path. He does this by helping them to become enthusiastic about STEM subjects and to recognise the links between the school curriculum and potential future career pathways.

Who are we looking for?

R B Plant (RBPC) is seeking a high calibre graduate EI&C Design Engineer. Previous relevant experience is advantageous, but not required, to work within our EI&C engineering department. Any previous experience using 3D scanners to generate point clouds and surface reconstruction would be beneficial.

What will you be doing?

The role requires the EI&C Design Engineer to carry out detailed design ranging from small to large scale projects and to provide technical support to assist with delivery activities. You will work within a multidiscipline engineering team to produce designs that meet quality standards and clients’ needs whilst being delivered on time and within budget.

You will be preparing and checking detailed technical designs including calculations, drawings, risk assessments, design certificates. The role will involve working closely with the Business Development Manager and obtain or provide pricing for estimating purposes.

You will complete and comply with all operational site H&S requirements to ensure safe working practices.

This role will involve some travel to sites throughout the UK to gain practical exposure to certain business areas therefore a full UK driving licence would be an advantage. RBPC undertakes projects across the globe and therefore some international travel may be required as part of the role.

What do you need?

For this role you will be educated to degree level, minimum of a 2:1 BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in Electrical Engineering. You will have also completed a relevant master’s degree. You will have knowledge and understanding of construction techniques and resource needs.

Previous experience in EI&C Engineering and using Autodesk Plant 3D would be beneficial as would knowledge and experience of industry standards such as British Standards and Eurocodes.

The successful candidate will need to be familiar, and comfortable, with standard software such as Microsoft Office suite and Auto CAD.
